Political Photography. Why?

Political Documentation;  Begins with the photographs you use for your handbills.  Uncle Bob has a nice camera he bought at the local Warehouse Super Store so I should get him to take my photo!

Not a good idea, photographers create photographs, we make sure everything is tucked in, background is conducive to your location and not distracting from the candidate.
We bring you to the people, you have but one chance to impress your constituents and you want to take full advantage of it.  Your photography will help convey your message IE...Family man, steward, honest and open.

Your campaign should also be documented as well....sure Uncle Bod has a nice camera but will he know what to capture when to capture it?  This is your history as a politician and you should document every large event you have.  These photographs make for great Media packets, the files are large enough for a good quality photo that can be used on TV and or News Papers.
The above photographs are of Stefan Mychajliw from his initial photographs to his announcement and victory on Election night as the Comptroller of Erie County, NY.

"Remember What It Took To Get Here, Remember What It Will Take To Stay Here!"

That's what I wrote on a 16x20 print he now has hanging on his office wall.

Capturing and documenting your run for office, it's history in the making, you need a trusted photographer with integrity, that's what I bring to the table. Vast experience in the political arena, all political persuasions.  Here is a link to another candidate running for Mayor of Buffalo NY

Medical Photography

One of the most exciting things I have done while a photographer is creating and capturing medical procedures in the operating room and throughout the Hospital.

Helping to create images that promote the abilities and capabilities of a hospital, clinic, and all facets of the medical community.  Creating the needed medical photographs while not compromising the patients privacy.
In Central Florida there is a large medical community that requires from time to time professional photographs for advertisement, flyer's, press releases or local accolades for employee's.

I am a Citrus County Photographer located in Hernando Florida that has the experience of working with the medical community to help provide the product that assists the Medical community to convey their message.

The Divinci is one of the most interesting machines I have witnessed.  Heart surgery or gallbladder, this machine makes recovery time much shorter.

MatchStick Photography can provide your medical team with what you need to create the information your want to disseminate to colleagues or the general public. New rooms maternity rooms etc.

The best thing is MatchStick Photography won't overcharge your budget,  I realize that hospitals use information over and over, for this reason there is one cost for a DVD with the images and a copyright release.

No matter what your looking for, construction documentation, Head Shots, or dedication ceremonies.

Starting your new life together....ahhhh the joys of being grown up

It has occurred to me that the same people I have the pleasure of shooting a wedding for are much the same as me and my wife.  We were married at a church had a reception and photographer and went into debt doing it.  We had some parental help but we had to pay.

As I look through our photo album (we had a great photographer) and re-live that day I realized that it was well worth it.  It was great to have all our family and friends come together under one roof to celebrate our wedding day.  It was our official first party (with help).  Our music was live, the first guy was Gypsy Pete.....he was a one man band...yes the same guy you would see in a cartoon or on TV...he was great!  Our wedding photographer was awesome, not many photos, he had his fair share of drinks and he did not stick around long....but all in all he gave us some great photos to remember our day.

One thing I can do, to make your new life together memorable, is document your day....create those memories you will cherish forever.  I do provide many many more photos than my photographer did but, times have changed.  Creating memories is important.

This fathers day was special to me....I now live about 15 minutes from my dad in Hernando Florida.  On Fathers Day we played golf for the first time together....it was special to me and I'm sure my Dad thought so as well...but, this is not a story about my personal life.....

After playing 18 holes we stopped at 19 for a cold beverage of choice....I gave the bartender a discount card for use with MatchStick Photography she was thankful and walked away.....about 5 minutes later she came back over and said I really want to thank you for this card.....I have been a single parent for 16 years and could never afford to have a professional photo taken with my kids...now I can afford it....(not because of my discount).

She also told me she had just remarried last year, a friend offered to pay for a photographer.  At the last minute this friend said he was being charged to much and opted to purchase a camera from Sams Club.  She went on to explain to me that she had snapshots of the day, you know dark faces, out of focus, nothing of the formal photographs not even a photograph of her and her new husband together.  She said to me, if I were to put my wedding dress on would you take a few pictures of me in it?  How could I say no?

Photographers come in many different shapes and sizes, offer many different packages and many different levels of expertise.  Being cheap has it's pitfalls, do not get caught up in the price of your memories....do get caught up in your photographers abilities, ask to view someone else's photographs.  Most photographers host weddings, family portraits, senior photos, newborn photography, and events.  Ask to see an entire event.

I say this because there are those who steal photographs from others and claim they are theirs.  Some will also hire expert photo editors to create works of art for their website and when you see your photographs your a bit disappointed.  Hidden costs are another thing you should be aware of.  Creating my packages provides you with just about everything you will want and need, prints, albums, hosting, print credits, as well as a DVD.

One other thing you need to do is make sure they are registered in either Florida or New York and that they carry insurance (for your protection).  Being not registered in a State can cause some huge issues if you try to make a claim against a photographer who is not registered to do business in the State.

MatchStick Photography is registered in both NY and Florida, this is where I do a majority of my business, I am insured as well.  Protecting myself as well as you is just one of those things that cost but in the long run pays off if something happens.

Interesting Hernando Storm Clouds

So I pulled my camera out to take a couple of shots around Hernando Florida.  We had a storm pass through (Andrea) which dumped a bit "O" rain here.  Although we didn't get much or as much as maybe Tampa Bay this storm did drop about 3" of rain.  I looked out my front window and said to myself man the wind must have messed up one of my lights...upon further investigation it was this guy....

We all need some shelter now and then....He made a break for it when the sun popped out for a minute or two.

As a photographer here in Hernando, I'm always in search of something to shoot.  Yesterday I found some clouds rolling through the neighbor hood...not mine someone else's...haha.  This is a departure from wedding photography here in Florida but, it also keeps me looking for something new here in Citrus County.  So if your looking for weather here in Citrus County....they have it.

So if your looking for a wedding photographer in Ocala, Hernando, Black Diamond, Lecanto, Inverness, Beverly Hills or Tampa call me.

Finally settled in Hernando Florida

We have finally settled into our new home here in Hernando Florida....It's been quite a trip, long time coming and very painful.

Moving on...this part of Florida is beautiful!  I don't think we could have picked a better area to start our new adventure.  The people here are very nice, the gym I belong to is beyond what I used to belong too....

I'm excited about bringing my photography business to Hernando and Citrus County as well as taking care of my photography business in NY as well....but this is now my home.

A bit about myself, I have been a photographer for 30 plus years, never thought I would be a photographer let alone own my own photography business.  It started when I was in the Marine Corps, running through the hill of Turkey during a NATO exercise, saw some guy in the same uniform I had on running around taking photographs.  Next thing you know that's what I'm doing in the Marine Corps...for the next 20 years I was a Combat Photographer.  After retiring the family packed it up and moved back to our roots...Buffalo, NY.  I worked as a videographer for the local CBS station for 12 years.  Then it was time to get back to what I enjoyed doing...I then started MatchStick Photography.

Most Photographers select their own names for their studios....not me....a match stick burning signifies the use of natural light to provide the mood and texture of people, places, and things...I love my name...but MatchStick Photography signifies my ideals about the use of natural light.

Creating memories makes my job so enjoyable, makes me want to go to work.  I keep my costs as low as I can, my center of operation is located in my house, all my jobs are done on location unless someone provides me some product that needs to be photographed in a neutral setting.  My Company is my name, I don't overbook myself....I provide the care and service that you pay for....lets face it it's not cheap hiring a photographer and you should get what you pay for.  You go cheap...you get cheap!

My favorite is capturing a wedding, although it's a tremendous amount of work in the end when the Bride and Groom get to see what happened that day, and they relive the entire day...it's the most gratifying feeling in the world.

I shoot it all...from weddings to landscape's, my goal is to provide you with those memories or product you will have forever.

One thing I do that I make sure everybody knows is provide a military discount for those who are in service of our country......Other discounts also apply from time to time...for others.  Settled
